Producing, DJing and being the Founder of Females Wit Funk Int. which is the first platform to ever showcase female turntablism, are a few things that keeps Tyra busy. The name does not lie. Tyra was born on October 1, 1983 in Saigon Vietnam. Tyra grew up in the outskirts of Toronto, Ontario, Canada and moved to California in the early 2000's mainly to pursue her music endeavours and education.

Tyra is the daughter of Hoang Lan, who is also a former musician/actress native from Saigon. As a child, Tyra was classically trained on the piano but then quit to learn the guitar which Tyra had been self-taught since the age of 12. Being involved in the party scene during her teen years, she became intrigued with DJ'ing and bought a pair of used Technic 1200s turntables from an eBay auction in 2004. Within the first year, she was booked for her first out of town show and worked her way up to become a resident House DJ for SoulStream Radio in Toronto.

In 2006, her song "Local Strangers" was used by PUMA and Go One for an ad campaign. The same year, she was titled #1 female scratch DJ  by Thud Rumble.

Today, Tyra is best known for her scratching skills and melodic productions. Her advanced turntablism abilities has acquired her sponsorships by reputable equipment companies. With only 4 years of experience, she has performed at conventions all over the U.S. & Canada demonstrating products for
Pioneer, Mixvibes, Mackie, PCDJ, Rane and Denon.                             HOME
